A bag of pasta caught my eye. It was pasta in the shape of calamari, which I&#8217;d never seen before. That day the class was about to make hollow forms and I thought how strange that I saw it precisely on that morning.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"frame-outer  aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1396\"><span><span><span><span><a href=\"http:\/\/artinsilver.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/t-pasta-calamari.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/artinsilver.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/t-pasta-calamari.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" width=\"360\" height=\"480\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1396\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"frame-outer  aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1400\"><span><span><span><span><a href=\"http:\/\/artinsilver.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/calamari-pasta.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/artinsilver.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/calamari-pasta.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" width=\"415\" height=\"343\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1400\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It was like bringing a box of candy to class. Almost everybody grabbed some to use as a mold for hollow forms.  By the end of the day Jennifer Elliott had managed to finish a whole necklace of silver beads.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"frame-outer  aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1397\"><span><span><span><span><a href=\"http:\/\/artinsilver.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/t-jennifer.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/artinsilver.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/t-jennifer.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"t-jennifer\" width=\"415\" height=\"154\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1397\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Other people took some home to make mixed metal hollow forms. This is the one I made:<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"frame-outer  aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1399\"><span><span><span><span><a href=\"http:\/\/artinsilver.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/t-calamari-necklace.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/artinsilver.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/08\/t-calamari-necklace.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" width=\"415\" height=\"729\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1399\" \/><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Here are other pieces that were finished by the end of the class. Marjorie Barnes made these earrings and this necklace from copper and silver&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"frame-outer  aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1401\"><span><span><span><span><a \/><\/a><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>By the end of the third day a lot of pieces were still waiting to be fired. All three kilns had a front door so the number of pieces fired in each kiln was limited.
